New Collective Agreement for CUPE 2254 members at the Grand Forks Library!

The Grand Forks Library staff recently completed a successful bargaining for a new three year collective agreement. A CUPE member had the following to say about the bargaining process:

“On August 12th, 2025, representatives from the Grand Forks and District Public Library, along with our local Shop Steward and CUPE representative, met with the Library Director, Board Chair and their hired representative to negotiate a 3 year agreement. The bargaining was completed before the end of the day and we left the table feeling recognized and satisfied that our wage increase will bring us closer to regional standards for library workers. Due to a lot of previous legwork, including sharing our benefit requests a head of time with management, this round of bargaining went very smoothly.

The members of sub local 2254 negotiated a wage increase of 14% over 3 years as well as meaningful changes to our benefit package; including an increase in dental, vision and expanding the description of family for our bereavement and sick time clauses. In addition, a wellness benefit and hearing aid package were negotiated.

Big thanks are due to Nicki Watson for her clean and concise communication and dedication to representing us throughout the negotiations and to Darryl Funk for his continuing support.”

Congratulations on the new collective agreement!
