Elections will be taking place at the November 17th Union Meeting. See details below provided by our vice president:
“This month’s Union Meeting on Monday November 17th is elections. Please see CUPE 2254 Election Primer 2025 which is a one-page summary of the positions that are up for election this year. We have two Committees that need new members for the upcoming year and they are:
Board Trustees: One vacant position — Once a year sit down for a day to audit the local’s finances (Note: you don’t have to be a math whiz, basic calculator skills are all you’ll need).
Time commitment: One day per year at the Trail Admin office (wages covered by the local)
What you’ll be doing: Review the local’s finances for the previous year and present the findings to the treasurer
Bargaining Committee for the RDKB contract: Five vacant positions
Requirements: Must be a RDKB employee
Time commitment: As required throughout the bargaining process (several training days, 3 or more bargaining days, and other ad hoc meetings as needed).
What you’ll be doing: Reviewing the local’s contract with our CUPE National Rep, attending bargaining training and sessions, and remaining available for questions throughout the life of the next contract.
Outside of elections we are also looking to fill three shop steward positions at the City of Greenwood, Village of Slocan, and McKelvey Creek Landfill.
If you are interested in running for a Shop Steward please let us know so that we can organize a worksite election if there is more than one nominee. Send an email to Heather Potter to express your interest or find out more at cupevicepresident2254@gmail.com. Contact your local shop steward if you have any questions about the roles, the elections process for your worksite, or for the Union as a whole.”
We will see you on November 17th at 5:30pm!
